Ibrahimović moves to Milan on loan

Zlatan Ibrahimović has joined AC Milan from FC Barcelona on a season-long loan, with the Sweden captain saying: "I'm joining one of the biggest clubs in the world, even bigger than Barcelona."

Sweden captain Zlatan Ibrahimović has joined AC Milan from FC Barcelona on a season-long loan with the Rossoneri having the option of signing the striker for €24m next summer.

Having left FC Internazionale Milano 12 months ago, the 28-year-old scored 16 goals in 29 Liga games last season as Barcelona retained the Spanish title, but never quite settled in Josep Guardiola's side. He is excited at the prospect of a return to the city of Milan, saying: "I'm very keen to win trophies with Milan, the Champions League included. I'm joining one of the biggest clubs in the world, even bigger than Barcelona. I don't think Inter fans will be too disappointed. They won everything last season and they have other things on their minds."

Ibrahimović's move to Barcelona netted Inter €46m plus striker Samuel Eto'o, but with the arrival of David Villa from Valencia CF more recently, the former Malmö FF, AFC Ajax and Juventus forward faced stiff competition for a starting place at the Camp Nou. He will now link up with Milan, who have been pooled along with Real Madrid CF, AJ Auxerre and Ajax in UEFA Champions League Group G. His new coach Massimiliano Allegri said: "With him alongside Ronaldinho and Pato I think we have the best attack in the world."
