• For the first time this season Carlo Ancelotti's team came from behind to win, Branislav Ivanović's first goal since 31 October 2009 securing three points at Ewood Park.

• Chelsea are unbeaten in six matches in all competitions, winning five.

• Benjani's goal was only the third the Blues have conceded in the league this season.

• The west London club had not conceded in 502 minutes, keeping five successive clean sheets in all competitions, since Carlos Tévez's goal for Manchester City FC on 25 September, before Benjani's opener for Blackburn.

• Aston Villa FC striker John Carew was the last visiting player to score a Premier League goal at Stamford Bridge, nine games and 781 minutes ago.

• Chelsea went 671 minutes without conceding in the league between Gareth Bale's effort in the 2-1 defeat at Tottenham Hotspur FC on 17 April and Scott Parker's late consolation for West Ham United FC on 11 September. They scored 35 times in between – a Premier League record.

• Frank Lampard has not played since a hernia operation at the end of August while Ramires has been sidelined since 16 October with an ankle problem.

• Before starting at Blackburn on Saturday, Alex has not played since 3 October due to a thigh injury.

• Before coming on as a late substitute at Aston Villa on 16 October, José Bosingwa had not featured suffering a knee injury on 17 October 2009, also at Villa.

• Yossi Benayoun is expected to be out of action until April with a torn Achilles tendon.

• Didier Drogba has been shortlisted for the FIFA Ballon d'Or, the winner of which will be announced in Zurich on 10 January. Ancelotti is one of ten nominees for the coach's award.

• Ramires and Alex have been named in Brazil's squad for their friendly against Argentina in Doha on 17 November.

• A statue of former Chelsea striker Peter Osgood, who died in 2006, was unveiled outside the West Stand at Stamford Bridge on 1 October. Osgood scored 150 goals for the Blues and was part of the 1970 FA Cup-winning side, finding the net in every round of the competition.

• John Battersby, Chelsea's club secretary between 1949 and 1971, died on 21 October aged 94.

• Marek Suchý and Evgeni Makeev were both suspended as Spartak extended their unbeaten run to eight league outings. Anton Khodyrev, 18, made his league debut.

• Valeri Karpin's side had not conceded a league goal in 420 minutes before being breached against Rostov.

• Spartak have kept five clean sheets in their last seven games.

• Dmitri Kombarov's penalty two minutes from time earned Spartak a 1-0 victory at home to FC Zenit St. Petersburg on 27 October, the leaders' first league defeat of the season.

• Alex has not played since tearing a thigh muscle against FC Alania Vladikavkaz on 15 October. Ari suffered a similar injury to his left thigh against Zenit and is expected to be out for a fortnight.

• Sergei Parshivlyuk has been ruled out for the rest of the group stage after suffering knee ligament damage in the second half of the 0-0 draw at Sibir on 23 October.

• Kirill Kombarov has been training separately as he recovers from an ankle injury that has kept him out of action since 9 July.

• Nikola Drinčić made his Spartak debut against Alania on 15 October. He joined during the winter break but fractured his tibia in January.
