Ambrosini and Pato out for Milan

Midfielder Massimo Ambrosini and forward Pato will miss AC Milan's 28 September trip to AFC Ajax after being sidelined for three weeks with injuries suffered against AJ Auxerre.

AC Milan midfielder Massimo Ambrosini and forward Pato have been ruled out of their 28 September trip to AFC Ajax after injuries sustained in the 2-0 Group G defeat of AJ Auxerre.

Milan began their UEFA Champions League campaign with victory on Wednesday but it came at a price. Captain Ambrosini suffered a left knee injury after only 15 minutes and was replaced by Kevin-Prince Boateng; tests today showed no ligament damage but the 33-year-old will not return for three weeks. Meanwhile Pato, 21, is out for a similar period after hurting his left thigh.
