Rangers FC striker James Beattie has been ruled out of Tuesday's UEFA Champions League game against Valencia CF following the recurrence of a hip injury.

The 32-year-old summer signing from Stoke City FC, who had been out of action since 11 September, made his comeback as a second-half substitute in last Sunday's 3-1 away win against Celtic FC, only for the injury to flare up again. Beattie now faces another three weeks on the sidelines meaning he will miss the trip to Valencia. Rangers are second in Group C with five points from their first three fixtures.
