Chelsea FC defender Branislav Ivanović has signed a new five-and-a-half-year contract with the English title holders.
The 26-year-old Serbian international has committed his future to the Stamford Bridge outfit until summer 2016. The right-back cum centre-back is scheduled to make his 100th Chelsea appearance in Monday's away game against west London rivals Fulham FC.
"It is good news for me, it is a very big step for me in my career and I want to give my maximum and try to help Chelsea win a lot more trophies," said Ivanović, who was part of a league and FA Cup double-winning campaign last term.
The former FK Remont, FK Srem and OFK Beograd player joined Chelsea from FC Lokomotiv Moskva in a €13m transfer in January 2008, but did not make his debut until the following September. His breakthrough came with two headed goals in a 2008/09 UEFA Champions League quarter-final first-leg win at Liverpool FC.
Chelsea will aim to reach that stage again when they take on FC København in the round of 16 on 22 February and 16 March, with the second game at home.
