• Basel have scored in each of their opening eight league games this season but have managed just three wins.

Latest domestic information
Friday 9 September: FC Oţelul Galaţi 0-4 CFR 1907 Cluj (Ronny 1, Bastos 56, Weldon 74, Hora 90+1)
Grahovac; Râpă, Costin, Sarghi, Ilie; Giurgiu, Filip (Pena 58); Antal, Ibeh, Buş (Frunză 67); Paraschiv (Ljubinković 36)

• Oţelul warmed up for their UEFA Champions League debut with their worst home defeat since 5 November 2006, when they went down 7-0 against FC Rapid Bucureşti. It was, said coach Dorinel Munteanu, a "black day".

• It took Ronny 50 seconds to become the first visiting player in three games this season to score at the Oţelul Stadium.

• Munteanu's side were reduced to ten men on 33 minutes when Silviu Ilie was sent off, Oţelul's third red card in six league games this season following dismissals for Liviu Antal and Bratislav Punoševac.

• The defeat was Oţelul's worst since an identical loss to FC Vaslui on 13 September 2010 and, coupled with a 2-1 reverse at FC Dinamo Bucureşti, completed their first back-to-back league defeats since August 2009.

• Oţelul have made a slow start to their First Division defence, claiming a win, a draw and a defeat in their first three outings, all against promoted sides. They beat FC Braşov next time out before those successive losses.

• Two months after wrapping up their first major trophy Oţelul secured a second on 17 July, Laurenţiu Buş scoring the only goal against Romanian Cup holders FC Steaua Bucureşti in the domestic Super Cup.

• On 3 September Oţelul claimed a 1-0 friendly win at Moldova's FC Tiraspol, Antal scoring three minutes from time.
