• Mircea Lucescu's side extended their unbeaten start to their Super League defence to 13 matches with their third win in six away games. They have won seven out of seven at home.

• Vyacheslav Shevchuk scored his second league goal this term, equalling the previous highest haul in his 17-year career set with Russian side FC Shinnik Yaroslavl in 2002.

• Shakhtar will face rivals FC Dynamo Kyiv in the Ukrainian Cup round of 16 on 26 October.

• Lucescu oversaw his 360th match at the Shakhtar helm on 18 September as the Pitmen beat FC Vorskla Poltava 1-0. That eclipsed the club record set between 1960 and 1969 by Oleg Oshenkov, who orchestrated 134 victories in 359 games in charge. Lucescu has now won 251 in 365.

Injury news
• Fernandinho returned after a fortnight out with a muscular problem as Shakhtar beat FC Zorya Luhansk 4-1 on 2 October.

• Rakitskiy sat out international duty with a stomach injury but returned on Saturday.

International duty
• Chygrynskiy and Yevhen Seleznyov played as Ukraine halted a run of four defeats with a 3-0 victory against Bulgaria in Kyiv on 7 October. The pair featured again four days later in a 2-0 win in Estonia, when Olexandr Rybka marked his international debut by saving a penalty.

• Eduardo broke the deadlock in Croatia's 2-0 UEFA EURO 2012 qualifying win against Latvia on 11 October in which Darijo Srna also played. His side were restricted to a play-off place, however, as with Srna suspended they had been defeated 2-0 in Greece four days earlier.

• Tomáš Hübschman was sent off as the Czech Republic lost 2-0 to Spain on 7 October and was suspended as his side booked a UEFA EURO 2012 play-off spot with a 4-1 triumph over Lithuania four days later.

• Henrikh Mkhitaryan scored against the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (4-1 win, 7 October) and the Republic of Ireland (1-2 loss, 11 October) as Armenia missed out on the play-offs.

• Marcelo Moreno scored a penalty on 7 October as Bolivia began 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifying with a 4-2 loss in Uruguay. He started again four days later in a 2-1 defeat by Colombia.

• Fernandinho, who made his international debut on 10 August as Brazil lost 3-2 to Germany, was in the side that beat Mexico 2-1 in a friendly on 11 October.

• Shakhtar signed Alan Patrick from Santos FC this summer but the winger, a member of Brazil's FIFA U-20 World Cup-winning side, is not in their UEFA Champions League squad.

• Luciano Spalletti's side stretched their unbeaten run at home to 14 matches, winning nine and drawing five since a 2-0 Russian Cup defeat by PFC CSKA Moskva on 20 April.

• Roman Shirokov has scored seven goals in his last nine appearances for Zenit; Danny has managed seven in ten for club and country. Kerzhakov has found the net nine times in as many league outings.

• Zenit have scored 21 goals in their last seven league matches and have won 13 of their last 19 games in all competitions.

• Zenit will face Dinamo Moskva at home in the Russian Cup quarter-finals on 20 March.

• Aleksandr Anyukov came off against Dinamo with a knee injury.

• Kerzhakov was suspended on Saturday but would have missed out anyway having withdrawn from international duty after suffering an ankle injury in the 2-2 draw at FC Spartak Moskva on 2 October.

• Domenico Criscito returned from international duty with a groin problem but was fit to face Dinamo.

• Sergei Semak has not featured since breaking his fifth metatarsal on 9 July but was an unused substitute at the weekend.

• Vladimir Bystrov returned on 21 September after six and a half months out with a knee ligament injury.

International duty
• Vyacheslav Malafeev kept clean sheets against Slovakia (0-1, 7 October) and Andorra (6-0, 11 October) and has now gone 561 minutes without conceding an international goal – a Russia record. Dick Advocaat's side, which also included Igor Denisov (both games), Anyukov, Konstantin Zyryanov and Shirokov (v Slovakia), booked a UEFA EURO 2012 spot.

• Alves and Portugal will have to come through a play-off against Bosnia and Herzegovina after following up a 5-3 victory against Iceland with a 2-1 defeat in Denmark; Danny did not feature in either game.
