• With on-loan Václav Pilař ineligible against his parent club, Pavel Vrba's side claimed only their third win in their last seven games in all competitions, although they have won three of the last four matches.

• Marek Bakoš and Milan Petržela each scored for the third successive league game, the latter a stunning solo effort that began inside his own half.

• At this stage last term, Plzeň were unbeaten and top of the league on 34 points – ten more than this time around.

• Marián Čišovský, on target again on Friday, scored his first goal for the club on 23 October as Plzeň beat FK Viktoria Žižkov 4-1.

• Marek Čech has not played since injuring his knee in Barcelona. The Žižkov win marked Roman Pavlík's return to action after suffering ligament damage at Rosenborg BK on 27 July; Čech was signed from FC Zhemchuzhina-Sochi as cover.

• Kolář, Petr Jiráček and Pilař are likely to be on duty on 11 and 15 November when the Czech Republic face Montenegro in the UEFA EURO 2012 play-offs.

• Messi's third hat-trick of the campaign − his 13th for Barcelona − and Isaac Cuenca's first goal for the club helped Josep Guardiola's side to their seventh win in eight outings.

• Barcelona are 22 games unbeaten in all competitions, since a 2-1 loss at Real Sociedad de Fútbol on 30 April.

• The Catalan giants have kept eight successive clean sheets and have not been breached in 787 minutes, since Pablo Hernández's goal in the 2-2 draw with Valencia CF on 21 September. Víctor Valdés, who broke Andoni Zubizarreta's club goalkeeping record of 301 Liga appearances on 2 October, has been in goal throughout that run.

• Xavi Hernández passed Migueli's club record for Liga appearances at Granada CF on 25 October, marking his 392nd top-flight match with the only goal of the game. It took him to four in nine league outings this term, passing his tallies for each of the last two seasons.

• Cuenca, who made his first appearance for the club as a late substitute on matchday three, made his full debut against a Granada side that ended the game with nine men.

• Messi missed an added-time penalty in a 0-0 draw at home to Sevilla FC on 22 October, the first time this season Barça have failed to score.

• Messi moved ahead of László Kubala into second place on the club's all-time scoring list with his two goals against Real Racing Club on 15 October. Messi has registered 199 times for Barça and is now chasing César Rodríguez, who scored 235 club goals between 1942 and 1955.

• Barça have scored in 25 consecutive Liga away games, a Spanish top-flight record.

• Barcelona have already collected two trophies this season, beating FC Porto 2-0 in the UEFA Super Cup on 26 August having already wrapped up a 5-4 aggregate victory against Real Madrid CF in the Spanish Super Cup.

Injury news
• Pedro Rodríguez has been ruled out of the Plzeň match after suffering an ankle injury at Granada.

• Gerard Piqué returned from a hamstring problem against Mallorca. That and a torn calf have limited the defender to just two starts for Barcelona this season.

• Carles Puyol also featured against Mallorca − his first outing in four games following a groin injury.

• Cesc Fàbregas came on as a substitute against Sevilla on his comeback from a torn hamstring that had kept him out since 1 October. Alexis Sánchez has been sidelined since 10 September with a similar problem.

• Ibrahim Afellay is likely to be out until next year after suffering a knee ligament injury in training in September.
