Barcelona's Piqué suffers hamstring strain

Gerard Piqué was substituted nine minutes into FC Barcelona's 3-0 home victory against Real Racing Club and has been ruled out of at least one UEFA Champions League fixture.

FC Barcelona will be without Gerard Piqué for Wednesday's UEFA Champions League match against FC Viktoria Plzeň after the centre-back suffered a left hamstring strain during Saturday's Liga triumph at home against Real Racing Club.

Only recently back from a calf tear, the 24-year-old was substituted in the ninth minute of the 3-0 win at the Camp Nou and is now expected to be sidelined for around 15 days. Piqué also faces a race to be fit in time for the return fixture against the Czech champions in Prague.

The UEFA Champions League holders – who already have Cesc Fàbregas, Alexis Sánchez and Ibrahim Affelay out injured – have collected four points from their two Group H encounters against AC Milan and FC BATE Borisov.
