• Barça have had more shots wide (62) and won more corners (48) than any other team in the round of 16. They have committed the fewest fouls (70) and collected the fewest yellow cards (10).

• Barcelona are 49 games unbeaten at home, winning 42 since a 2-0 loss to Hércules CF on 11 September 2010.

• Thiago Alcántara missed Saturday's win with a right shin problem suffered in training with Spain last week.

• Éric Abidal is out of the second leg with a groin injury suffered in France's 2-1 win to Germany on 29 February.

 • Alexis Sánchez is expected to be out of action for around a fortnight after he sustained a right adductor tear against Sporting at the weekend.

• Xavi missed the win at Leverkusen due to recurring calf muscle problem but returned with a goal against Valencia.

• David Villa could miss the rest of the season after breaking his left leg at the Club World Cup on 15 December. Andreu Fontàs will not feature until 2012/13 after tearing knee ligaments on 12 January.

• Ibrahim Afellay, who suffered a knee ligament injury in September, returned to training on 16 February.

International duty
• Andrés Iniesta opened the scoring as Spain claimed a 5-0 friendly victory against Venezuela in Malaga on 29 February; Piqué, Puyol, Xavi, Cesc Fàbregas and Sergio Busquets also featured.

• Messi struck his first senior international hat-trick as Argentina beat Switzerland by 3-1 on the same night; Javier Mascherano was also in action in Berne.

• Xavi has been awarded €100,000 by UEFA after being named captain of the UEFA.com users' Team of the Year 2011. He will donate the sum to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) before the second leg kicks off. "It's an honour to be part of the team, to be the captain and to represent European and world football," the midfielder said. "In this case we are helping people who are more vulnerable and who need it, so I am proud in that sense."
