FC Basel 1893 look set to be without Valentin Stocker for the UEFA Champions League round of 16 first leg against FC Bayern München after the midfielder suffered a thigh injury.

The 22-year-old Swiss international sustained a severely pulled muscle in his right leg during Saturday's 3-3 friendly draw with Feyenoord in Marbella and is expected to be sidelined for four to six weeks. That would leave him struggling to take part in the visit of Bayern on 22 February, with the second leg in Munich on 13 March. Stocker only returned in December from an eight-month absence following knee surgery.

Meanwhile, the Swiss Super League leaders have announced the loan of 22-year-old midfielder Pascal Schürpf to second-tier FC Aarau.
