Central defender Dejan Lovren has agreed new terms with UEFA Champions League contenders Olympique Lyonnais, with the 22-year-old now committed to the club until 30 June 2016.

Lyon have handed the Croatian international a two-year contract extension, with a club statement explaining: "He is one of the young players that OL will look to rely on in the future to prolong the new sporting dynamic of the club." Zenica-born Lovren has made 49 league appearances since joining the Ligue 1 outfit from GNK Dinamo Zagreb at the start of 2010, and has been capped 13 times by Croatia.

Lyon play APOEL FC in the UEFA Champions League round of 16, with the first leg scheduled for the Stade de Gerland on 14 February.
