Given the huge stakes often riding on the outcome of a game, football is a highly pressurised environment that can take its toll on the people in charge.

In the fifth episode of our seven-part documentary series, The Coaches, UEFA.com speaks to the likes of Roy Hodgson, Gérard Houllier and Ralf Rangnick to get their thoughts on coping with the stresses of the game.

"The job doesn't let go," explained Rangnick. "Once a match ends there's always another, so you're already thinking about the next training session and preparation for the next match. The moments where you can let go and have some time to clear your head are very limited, and that isn't easy to deal with at all."

"For a long time I tried to understand why certain coaches took so much holiday, until I paid for it with my own health," added Houllier. "It's a job that eats you from inside, so you have to be very careful and always be fit. What is certain is that stress exists, and that you must fight it. Or even better, know how to live with it."
