Champions cherishes Munich showpiece

Champions, the official UEFA Champions League magazine, looks ahead with anticipation to Saturday's UEFA Champions League final with a host of features and interviews.

The UEFA Champions League final between Chelsea FC and FC Bayern München in Munich on Saturday is eagerly awaited – and edition No53 of Champions, the official UEFA Champions League magazine, talks exclusively to two of the game's potential stars, the Blues' Juan Mata, and Bayern's Bastian Schweinsteiger.

Ahead of the big match, Champions visits Munich and discovers how geniuses from Franz Beckenbauer to Albert Einstein have shaped the Bavarian city. Champions also recalls AC Milan's European adventures under Carlo Ancelotti; how Real Madrid CF won their seventh crown after a 32-year-drought; and the brilliance of Austrian Ernst Happel, the first coach to lift the European Champion Clubs' Cup with two clubs.

Champions also meets Paul Scholes, reflecting on his glory years with Manchester United FC; meets Phil Neal, the most-decorated Briton in the competition's history; and listens in as Italian striker of recent vintage Fabrizio Ravanelli shares his football memories.

Elsewhere, the Champions dossier examines how winning coaches adapt when games do not go according to plan. Technical Area, meanwhile, charts the rise and fall of catenaccio. Furthermore, Champions looks at why FC Barcelona's Lionel Messi, who is tearing up the record books with his goals, faces his biggest challenge yet.

Plus, six moments that made Barcelona great; Velibor Vasovic's influence on AFC Ajax in the early 1970s; and behind the scenes at some of this season's UEFA Champions League clubs.
