Ariël Jacobs, who guided RSC Anderlecht to the Belgian title last month, has been appointed coach of FC København.

The 58-year-old has signed a two-year deal to succeed Carsten Jensen, the club's sporting director who took charge of team affairs when Roland Nilsson was sacked during the winter break. Jensen relinquished control when FCK finished second behind first-time champions FC Nordsjælland.

Anders Hørsholt, the FCK managing director, said: "We have been thorough in our search for a new head coach, and Ariel Jacobs has the profile we have been looking for. He has a lot of valuable experience and knowledge from many years in Belgian and international football, where he has provided great results in a strong league."

Jacobs, also a champion with Anderlecht in 2010, said: "I am not the kind of coach who sticks to one playing system. Any tactical vision does not only depend on the coach, but also on the players who are at his disposal."

FCK begin their UEFA Champions League campaign in the third qualifying round.
