International duty
• Thirteen Bayern players were on senior duty during the international break: Manuel Neuer, Philipp Lahm, Holger Badstuber, Jérôme Boateng, Thomas Müller, Toni Kroos (Germany), Daniel Van Buyten (Belgium), Mario Mandžukić (Croatia), Arjen Robben (Netherlands), Claudio Pizarro (Peru), Franck Ribéry (France), Xherdan Shaqiri (Switzerland) and Anatoliy Tymoshchuk (Ukraine).

• Ribéry was on target as France won 3-1 against Belarus in their FIFA World Cup qualifier on 11 September.

• Shaqiri scored as Switzerland defeated Albania 2-0 in qualifying on the same day.

• Robben featured in the Netherlands' 2-0 qualifying defeat of Turkey on 7 September, but missed the 4-1 win against Hungary four days later due to groin problems.

• Pizarro missed a penalty after two minutes of Peru's World Cup qualifier against Argentina (1-1) on 11 September.

• Bayern signed Javi Martínez for a Bundesliga record fee of €40m.

• Bayern beat SSV Jahn Regensburg 4-0 in the German Cup first round on 20 August. Next up are another second-tier side, 1. FC Kaiserslautern, on 31 October.

• On 12 August Bayern won the German Super Cup for the fourth time, Mandžukić and Müller earning a 2-1 victory over Bundesliga title holders Borussia Dortmund.

• Raeder (knee), Mario Gomez (ankle), Diego Contento and David Alaba (both foot) are yet to play this term.

International duty
• Nine Valencia players were on senior duty during the international break: Roberto Soldado (Spain), João Pereira, Ricardo Costa (Portugal), Diego Alves, Jonas (Brazil), Andrés Guardado (Mexico), Fernando Gago (Argentina), Nelson Valdez (Paraguay), Adil Rami (France) and Sofiane Feghouli (Algeria).

• Soldado struck the only goal against Georgia four minutes from time to ensure Spain opened their FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign with victory on 11 September.

• Gago came off after an hour of Argentina's 1-1 World Cup qualifying draw in Peru because of a head injury.

• After registering 35 Liga goals in his first two seasons at Valencia, Soldado agreed terms on a new deal over the summer which ties him to the club until 2017.

• Pablo Piatti will be absent for most of the group stage after fracturing his right arm in training on 7 September.

• David Albelda was ruled out for four weeks after tearing his right hamstring during training on 11 September.

• Éver Banega (broken leg) and Canales (anterior cruciate ligament) continue to be sidelined with injuries sustained last season. Canales has not been included in Valencia's UEFA Champions League squad.
