UEFA Champions League statistics
• Benfica have committed 52 fouls; more than any other team in the group stage.

• Benfica have scored 349 goals in the European Cup.

• Luisão is banned until 14 November following an incident involving the referee against Fortuna Düsseldorf 1895 in an August friendly. Nemanja Matić serves a one-game ban on matchday four after receiving three yellow cards in the group stage; Bruno César will incur a suspension with his next booking.

• This is Benfica's third successive group stage campaign, equalling a club record set between 2005 and 2007.

• Óscar Cardozo struck twice to take his tally to six goals in as many Liga appearances this term and Lima once to make it five in five in the league for him as Benfica won 3-0 against Vitória SC on Saturday. André Gomes was sent off 11 minutes from time.

• Luisinho and André Gomes marked their Liga debuts for Benfica with a goal apiece as the Eagles prevailed 3-0 at Gil Vicente FC on 27 October. The former was the first Portuguese player to score in the league for the Lisbon side since Nuno Gomes in a 5-1 win against FC Paços de Ferreira on 21 March 2011.

• Jorge Jesus' team will play Moreirense FC – Sporting Clube de Portugal's conquerors – in the Portuguese Cup fourth round on 17 November.

• Pablo Aimar has been out with a thigh injury since matchday two; Carlos Martins limped off at half-time on Saturday with a thigh problem while Lorenzo Melgarejo has a knee injury.

• Luís Filipe Vieira was re-elected on 26 October for another four-year term as Benfica president.

• Rodrigo agreed a four-year contract extension on 23 August, keeping him with the Eagles until summer 2019. He has a €45m release clause.


UEFA Champions League statistics
• Spartak have conceded seven goals, the joint highest total in the group stage along with FC Dynamo Kyiv, FC Nordsjælland and Manchester City FC.

• Celtic FC's 3-2 win at Spartak on matchday two was their first in 21 away games in the UEFA Champions League.

• Juan Insaurralde is available after serving a one-game ban following his red card on matchday two. Marek Suchý will incur a suspension with his next booking.

• Spartak won 5-0 at PFC Krylya Sovetov Samara on Saturday, their biggest win in over three years, since beating FC Tom Tomsk by the same scoreline on 27 September 2009. It was their biggest away league victory since a 5-0 triumph at FC Fakel Voronezh on 18 August 2001.

• Following a 0-0 draw, Spartak lost 3-2 on penalties to FC Rostov in the last 16 of the Russian Cup on 30 October.

• Three days earlier, José Manuel Jurado scored his first goal for Spartak in a 2-0 home win against FC Mordovia Saransk. He was on target again at Krylya Sovetov.

• Artem Dzyuba missed the Rostov and Mordovia matches due to a cold but returned with a goal at Krylya Sovetov.

• Pavel Yakovlev ruptured ligaments in his right knee during the first leg of Russia's UEFA European Under-21 Championship play-off triumph against the Czech Republic on 12 October.

• Romulo, Sergei Parshivlyuk and Soslan Gatagov will miss the UEFA Champions League group stage with knee ligament injuries. Romulo suffered his on 23 September, Parshivlyuk and Gatagov during the summer.

• This season Spartak won their first three league games for only the fourth time. On the previous three occasions, in 1994, 1997 and 1999, they went on to win the title.

• On Monday Spartak announced they have reached an agreement with BK Häcken to sign Ghana forward Abdul Waris Majeed subject to a medical.
