Article body
FC Internazionale have signed Argentinian midfield player Juan Sebastián Verón on a one-year loan from Chelsea FC.
Back problem
Verón, 29, moved to Stamford Bridge last summer in a €22.5m deal, part of a spending spree of more than €150m following Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich's purchase of the club, but struggled to make an impact. His season was interrupted by a back injury that kept him on the sidelines between 19 November and 10 April.
Italian return
Verón is a familiar figure in Italian football, having previously played for Parma AC and S.S. Lazio. He left the Rome-based club – where he won the Serie A title in 1999/00 – for Manchester United FC in summer 2001 in a transfer worth close to €43m, and helped United to the Premiership title in 2002/03.
'Dreaming again'
"I'm very happy," said Verón. "I have been waiting a long time for this moment to come because I wanted to start dreaming again and I will do it wearing the Nerazzurri shirt. I never thought about money during this negotiation. For me it was only important that Inter wanted me. When I spoke with [club owner] Massimo Moratti and [president] Giacinto Facchetti, I immediately answered yes."
