Ajax win Trabelsi case

AFC Ajax have given Rachid Tiberkanine a contract and won their dispute with Hatem Trabelsi.

Two-year deal
Tiberkanine has signed a two-year contract after scoring eleven goals last season in helping Ajax's youth team to the Dutch championship. The 19-year-old midfield player said: "The fact that I now have signed a contract is a huge step. Now it is up to me to show I am worth it."

Ajax case upheld
Meanwhile, the KNVB has rejected Trabelsi's bid to terminate his Ajax deal, keeping the Tunisian international under contract until 30 June 2006. The 27-year-old right-back had insisted his contract ran out this summer, but Ajax insisted on invoking a clause allowing them to extend the deal for two years, and the KNVB has upheld that decision and rejected any termination due to a "disturbed working relationship". Ajax, who have made no comment, can now demand a fee for Trabelsi.
