Turkish champions Galatasaray AŞ have suffered an injury blow with the news that Johan Elmander will be out for at least six weeks after he tore a muscle in his right thigh.
The Sweden striker – who has scored three goals in six top-flight appearances this term – lasted just 42 minutes of Tuesday's 1-1 UEFA Champions League home draw with CFR 1907 Cluj before sustaining an 11cm tear. Elmander, 31, is now certain to miss Galatasaray's remaining Group H fixtures, starting with the return trip to Romanian title holders CFR on 7 November.
Fatih Terim's team are three points off second place and eight behind group pace setters Manchester United FC after collecting one point from their opening three games.
