FC Spartak Moskva have reached an agreement with BK Häcken for the transfer of their Ghanaian international Majeed Waris, subject to a medical.

The striker will join the Russian club in January having fired a league-high 23 goals for Häcken as they finished two points behind IF Elfsborg, who were crowned Swedish champions on Sunday. The 21-year-old made his international debut against Chile in February and has played four times for his country.

"A lot of clubs showed an interest. It started in the summer but we decided not to sell him until the end of the season," said Häcken general director Sonny Karlsson. "We want to thank Majeed for his immense contribution this season and wish him all the best."

Spartak are currently third in UEFA Champions League Group G but could improve upon that position if they overcome SL Benfica on Wednesday.
