Captain Scott Brown set his sights on further progress in the UEFA Champions League after playing his part in "an incredible achievement" as Celtic FC progressed to the last 16 courtesy of a 2-1 victory against FC Spartak Moskva. Goalkeeper Fraser Forster said the club had "exceeded all expectations" by reaching the knockout stages, while Kim Källström was left to reflect on another disappointing performance as Spartak bowed out of Europe.

Scott Brown, Celtic midfielder
It's awesome, an incredible achievement by the lads. We've been amazing at home and worked hard on our defending and counterattacking as well. We created a lot of chances and the second half was a lot better for us. We knew it was going to be hard at half-time but we came out and gave as good as we got. I didn't really see what was going on in the dressing room after the game because I was doing press interviews, but when I walked in the boys were on a high.

We're through to the last 16 and that's all that matters. We've shown we deserve to be here. Our home form has been phenomenal again and for us to get ten points, the first Scottish club to do so, is fantastic. I don't think it really matters who we get [in the last 16]. It's going to be two hard games, but I think it's our home form that's going to be decisive. I don't see why we can't go further in the competition, especially with our away form improving as well. As a team we're improving all the time and it's a good place to be at the moment.

Fraser Forster, Celtic goalkeeper
I'm delighted. We've worked hard as a group and got another fantastic result tonight. As a club we can be really proud. I think we've exceeded all expectations. The manager is really pleased at the way the team's developed during this campaign. To be honest I thought Barcelona had gone ahead in the other game when we heard the crowd cheer in the first half. We're just delighted to be in the last 16. I think we'll take anyone. This is a tough place for anyone to come and we fancy our chances against anyone.

Kim Källström, Spartak Moskva midfielder
We played quite well and made quite a few chances. We tried to find a better balance in the team after our recent results, but the first goal was very unlucky. We tried very hard but we have no result to show for it at the end so that's not good for our confidence. We have to look at the mistakes we made and learn from them. Every team that gets through deserves their spot in the next round. Obviously the Celtic fans were fantastic and with the result going their way it got even better for them. It was a good experience for us, except for the result.
