Serie A leaders Juventus have terminated the contract of centre-back Lúcio by mutual consent.
The 34-year-old Brazil defender joined from FC Internazionale Milano on a free transfer in the summer but has managed only one Serie A appearance and two more in the UEFA Champions League, though he did help Juve win the Italian Super Cup.
Capped over 100 times with Brazil and a 2002 FIFA World Cup winner, Lúcio lifted the UEFA Champions League with Inter in 2010, helping the Nerazzurri to win the Scudetto and the Coppa Italia in the same season. During his long European career, which started in 2000 with Bayer 04 Leverkusen, he has also won three Bundelisga titles with FC Bayern München.
Juve will discover their UEFA Champions League round of 16 opponents on Thursday.
