FC Shakhtar Donetsk captain Darijo Srna admitted: "Dortmund have the upper hand," after Mats Hummels' late equaliser earned the visitors a 2-2 UEFA Champions League round of 16 first-leg draw. Following a difficult opening 20 minutes when the visitors looked like they were going to carve open the home side's defence at every opportunity, the Ukrainian team began to create a number of good opportunities of their own, however Srna lamented the fact that "we were lacking concentration at the vital moments" and twice let the lead slip.

It could have been better and obviously this is not the result we would have wanted. We were in front twice, but on both occasions we let that lead slip away, four minutes before the end of the first half and at the end of the match we gave away a silly goal. At this level you can't get away with making such mistakes. We have to look forward, it's just a shame that all our hard work has been undone.

We have got three weeks to prepare for the next game and I am sure that we will play better in the return leg. Two-all is not the result we wanted and we have to win in Dortmund, but the tie is still open and we will be doing everything to try and get the result we need. Borussia were fitter than us today, but that's not surprising as their winter break finished weeks ago.

Răzvan Raț, Shakhtar defender
We had the lead twice and we were leading with just three minutes to go and we could have won this match. They have some very quick players going forward like [Robert] Lewandowski, who is very clever and knows how to receive the ball and he's a truly great player. The others are also very fast and very technical, so it was a really difficult game for our defence.

In the end it's only the result that matters. We were controlling possession and we also had some chances to score, but we couldn't take them. Then again, they also had chances.

It will be very difficult for us in Dortmund, because we will be under a lot of pressure. They have got great fans and they will also be confident after getting a good result here. A 0-0 draw would suit them, so we need to attack and take risks, but, at the same time, we must make sure that we do not concede.
