UEFA Champions League statistics
• Dortmund have scored 148 European Cup goals. They have conceded 199 goals in UEFA competition.

• Dortmund have been caught offside seven times and collected six yellow cards, both fewer than any other team in the last 16. They are one of three unbeaten sides in the competition along with FC Schalke 04 and Juventus.

UEFA Champions League squad changes
Marcel Halstenberg, Jonas Hofmann, Nuri Şahin (Real Madrid CF, loan)

Mustafa Amini, Chris Löwe (1. FC Kaiserslautern), Ivan Perišić (VfL Wolfsburg)

• Şahin has returned to Dortmund in an 18-month loan deal.

• Lewandowski struck twice on Saturday – taking his tally to nine in his past nine outings for the club – as Dortmund beat Hannover 96 3-1. He had been set to complete a three-match league ban following his dismissal against Hamburger SV on 9 February, but the suspension was reduced to two games on Friday.

• Julian Schieber was also on target against Hannover, his first Bundesliga goal for Dortmund.

• Dortmund's German Cup defence ended last Wednesday with a 1-0 quarter-final defeat at FC Bayern München, the team they beat 5-2 in last season's final. The loss ended Dortmund's 15-game unbeaten run away from home in all competitions.

• Marco Reus scored every goal in a 3-0 win against Eintracht Frankfurt on 16 February, becoming the first German player to record a hat-trick at home for Dortmund since Günter Breitzke in 1986. For the second successive league game Klopp's team were reduced to ten men on 31 minutes, with Schieber sent off.

• Dortmund's 4-1 home defeat by Hamburg on 9 February was their heaviest loss since going down 5-1 at home to Bayern on 12 September 2009. Hamburg ended Dortmund's 31-match unbeaten league run in September.

• İlkay Gündogan has been out of the starting XI in six Bundesliga games this season; Dortmund failed to win any (three draws, three losses).

• Neven Subotić (until summer 2016), Kevin Grosskreutz (2016), Sven Bender (2017) and Schmelzer (2017) have signed contract extensions this year.

UEFA Champions League squad changes
Taison (FC Metalist Kharkiv), Dmytro Grechyshkin (FC Illychivets Mariupol)

Willian (FC Anji Makhachkala), Dentinho (Beşiktaş JK), Olexiy Polyanskiy, Marko Dević (FC Metalist Kharkiv)

• Taison's €15.2m switch is the biggest between two Ukrainian clubs while Willian's €35m price tag made him the most expensive player sold by a Ukrainian side.

• On 14 February Shakhtar signed Ismaily from SC Braga on a five-year deal; the Brazilian defender is ineligible for the UEFA Champions League.

• Dević left Shakhtar last week to return to Metalist Kharkiv on a four-year deal.

• Shakhtar's 91-day domestic winter break ended on Friday when they won 4-1 at home to FC Volyn Lutsk. Kucher registered his third league goal of the season, eclipsing his combined haul of two from six previous campaigns at the club. Eduardo was on target with his first goal at the Donbass Arena since 2 December 2011.

• Eduard Sobol, a 17-year-old signing from FC Metalurh Zaporizhya last month, came on for his debut on Friday.

• After the first leg against Dortmund, Mircea Lucescu's squad had a training camp in Turkey and played six friendlies in nine days, recording three wins, two draws and a defeat:
15/02: 1-1 IFK Norrköping, SWE (Stepanenko 41; Telo 81)

23/02: 1-2 FC Dinamo Moskva, RUS (Mkhitaryan 82; Kuranyi 60, Noboa 79)

• Shakhtar were in supreme friendly form before the first leg, triumphing in ten of their 12 outings and winning tournaments in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates and La Manga, Spain.

• Srna won his 100th cap on 6 February in Croatia's 4-0 win against South Korea at Craven Cottage, London. He marked the occasion with the 20th goal of his international career.

• Mkhitaryan's tally of 18 league goals this term is already the best return for a campaign by a Shakhtar player since Olexiy Byelik (21) in 2002/03. The Armenia forward's highest mark before this season was 12, for FC Pyunik in 2007.

• Alex Teixeira has scored 12 goals in all competitions this season, two more than his 2011/12 haul.

• Shakhtar this season became the first team to win the first 15 games of a Ukrainian top-flight campaign.

• Lucescu's side lost 2-0 at FC Arsenal Kyiv on 17 November, ending the club's national record runs of 24 consecutive Ukrainian Premier League victories and 34 top-flight matches in a row in which they scored at least once.

• Shakhtar's 20-game unbeaten start to the season, including 19 wins, ended at Chelsea FC on matchday four.
