RSC Anderlecht forward Matías Suárez has signed a contract extension with the Belgian champions until the summer of 2017.

Suárez, who joined the Brussels outfit in 2008 from CA Belgrano in his native Argentina, has added two years to his previous deal. He has won the Eerste Klasse three times since his arrival at the Constant Vanden Stock Stadium and was voted Belgium's player of 2011 and player of the 2011/12 season in the space of four months last year.

"I am very happy with this contract extension," said Suárez, a scorer of 35 goals in 126 league appearances for Les Mauves et Blancs. "RSC Anderlecht have done a lot for me and I want to thank the club."

The 25-year-old missed his team's UEFA Champions League group stage participation last term because of a knee injury and did not feature in Anderlecht's title-winning campaign until 9 March. "Next season I want to get back to my best level again and play in the Champions League for the first time," he said. "This is a very important step in my career."
