José Ángel thrilled by Real Sociedad return

Having spent 2012/13 on loan at Real Sociedad de Fútbol, full-back José Ángel has agreed to return to the club from AS Roma for what he predicts will be an "exciting season".

After agreeing terms on a second successive loan spell at Real Sociedad de Fútbol, AS Roma's José Ángel said the decision to return to last season's fourth-placed Liga finishers was straightforward.

A product of Real Sporting de Gijón's youth setup, the left-back featured in 27 Serie A games for Roma under Luis Enrique in 2011/12 before being loaned out to Real Sociedad last term. Limited to just 11 Liga games as the Txuri Urdin (Blue and Whites) secured a UEFA Champions League play-off place, the defender said he was determined to earn more playing time this time around.

"I knew at the end of last season that I wanted to return as I was treated so well," explained the 23-year-old, a member of Spain's 2011 UEFA European Under-21 Championship-winning team. "It was easy to reach an agreement when both parties wanted the same thing. Obviously I didn't play as much as I would have liked last season but now there is a new coach here and it is almost like starting again. We are facing a very exciting season."

The Basque outfit have replaced the Stade Rennais FC-bound coach Philippe Montanier with assistant Jagoba Arrasate and the 35-year-old's first real task will be to negotiate a UEFA Champions League play-off in August.
