UEFA Champions League hopefuls Real Sociedad de Fútbol have signed Swiss international forward Haris Seferović from ACF Fiorentina for a reported fee of €3m.

The striker – who had made just eight Serie A appearances for the Viola since arriving from Grasshopper Club in 2010 – has penned a four-year contract with La Real. The 21-year-old rose to prominence with the winning goal for Switzerland in the 2009 FIFA U-17 World Cup final against hosts Nigeria. Following his subsequent move to Italy, he had loan spells at Neuchâtel Xamax FC, US Lecce and, last season, Novara Calcio in Serie B.

After completing his transfer to last term's fourth-place Liga finishers Real Sociedad, Seferović said: "It's a pleasure to be here. I am looking forward to starting work and enjoying a great experience at this club."

The Basque outfit – who recently took defender José Ángel back on loan from AS Roma – will contest a UEFA Champions League play-off in August.
