FC København have signed German forward Marvin Pourie, 22, on a four-year deal as they strengthen ahead of this season's UEFA Champions League campaign.
Previously on the books at Borussia Dortmund, Liverpool FC and FC Schalke 04, Pourie scored 14 Superliga goals last term but could not prevent Silkeborg IF being relegated. He will now remain in the top flight with the Danish champions. "I am really proud to become an FCK player," he announced. "The club are known all over Europe and I will be truly honoured to carry the lion on my chest."
Pourie, who has also played for TSV 1860 München and TuS Koblenz on loan, said talks with coach Ariël Jacobs and sporting director Carsten V Jensen had convinced him to make the move. Jensen, meanwhile, was delighted that the striker would be playing for København, not against them. "Despite his youth, Marvin has proved himself one of the strongest forwards in the league in recent seasons," he said. "With his skills in the build-up and in front of goal, added to his pace and work rate, he is a real handful to any defence."
København will line up in the UEFA Champions League group stage, with the draw in Monaco on 29 August.
