SSC Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has announced that Marek Hamšík has signed a two-year contract extension that ties him to the UEFA Champions League hopefuls until 2018.
"The match with Hamšík is a perfect marriage," he tweeted. "He is a great footballer and a great professional who honours the Napoli shirt and will continue to do so until 2018 as we just renewed his contract."
Signed from Brescia Calcio in 2007, the 26-year-old has scored 61 goals in 218 Serie A games for Napoli, including 11 last term when he did not miss a single game as the Partenopei finished second behind Juventus.
Napoli will play in the UEFA Champions League group stage this term under new coach Rafael Benítez.
