FC Shakhtar Donetsk have continued their summer spending by securing the services of SC Tavriya Simferopol striker Anton Shinder.
The 26-year-old has committed to spending the next four seasons with the Pitmen after completing a medical today. "I am delighted to be joining such a big club. It was fairly unexpected," he said. "I was in Simferopol when I was informed of Shakhtar's interest so I travelled to Donetsk, passed a medical and signed a contract. I didn't get much sleep last night.
"To play at the highest level and to hear the Champions League anthem represents a huge step in my career. I want to start training as soon as possible," added Shinder, who registered 18 goals in 77 league appearances during a three-year stint with Tavriya.
Schinder, who learned his trade in the lower reaches of German football, has been capped twice by Ukraine and made his debut against the Czech Republic in September 2011.
Mircea Lucescu's team are two points clear of FC Metalist Kharkiv at the Ukrainian Premier League summit after five games and begin their UEFA Champions League campaign from the group stage.
