A banner will be displayed on the pitch at all UEFA Champions League matches this week as a tribute to Nelson Mandela. It reads: Madiba, the world will never forget.

UEFA milestones and competition statistics
• The 5-0 loss at FC Bayern München on matchday five was Plzeň's heaviest UEFA Champions League defeat, equalling their worst in UEFA competition set when Bayern beat them 6-1 in the 1971/72 European Cup Winners' Cup.

• Plzeň, like Olympique de Marseille, have not yet picked up a point going into matchday six. Fifteen teams have previously ended a UEFA Champions League group stage without a point.

• Marián Čišovský and FC Zenit's Roman Shirokov were the five-goal top scorers in the qualification phase.

• Plzeň have conceded 16 goals in the competition, more than any other team ahead of matchday six. CSKA have the second worst defensive record with 15 conceded.

• David Limberský and Roman Hubník are both a booking away from a suspension.

General information
• Plzeň were not in action at the weekend after rounding off their domestic campaign on 1 December with a 2-0 home win against 1. FK Příbram. They go into the winter break second in the Czech First League, five points behind AC Sparta Praha. Their next league outing is away to FC Baník Ostrava on 22 February.

• The crowd gave Pavel Vrba a standing ovation before the Příbram win as it was the coach's last league game in charge of the club. He will take the reins of the Czech Republic on a four-year deal in January, ending a successful five-and-a-half-year spell with a club that had not won a major honour before his arrival. The CSKA game is his last as Plzeň coach.

• Stanislav Tecl has scored nine goals in 13 starts for the club this season.

• Plzeň's 11-match unbeaten start to the Czech First League – seven wins and four draws – ended on 27 October with a 1-0 loss to FK Teplice. They have won four out of four in the league since.

CSKA Moskva

UEFA milestones and competition statistics
• CSKA have conceded at least two goals in each of their five Group D matches and have not kept a clean sheet in nine UEFA Champions League games, since a 0-0 draw at Trabzonspor AŞ on 2 November 2011.

General information
• Alan Dzagoev, out since 14 September with a hamstring injury, returned to action on 2 December as a substitute in a 0-0 draw at FC Rostov. Defender Vyacheslav Karavaev, 18, made his first-team debut as a late replacement and made another appearance on Friday in a 1-0 defeat at FC Krasnodar.

• Friday's game in Krasnodar marked Aleksei Berezutski's 400th appearance for CSKA.

• Seydou Doumbia, who has scored seven goals in five outings, is expected to sit out matchday six with an undisclosed injury that has ruled him out of CSKA's last three games.

• Aleksandrs Cauņa has been out with a broken toe since 22 September. Defenders Vasili Berezutski (knee) and Mário Fernandes (muscle) have also been sidelined with knocks.

• Zoran Tošić has scored six goals in ten games for CSKA, and eight in 17 for club and country having previously gone 35 matches without a goal. He scored his first hat-trick in a 5-1 triumph over Krasnodar on 27 October.

• CSKA managed 20 points from their opening eight Premier Liga fixtures, their best start to a campaign this century.
