Two-goal Ribéry hails Bayern hunger

Franck Ribéry and Toni Kroos believed FC Bayern München's "motivation" was key to a 5-0 win against FC Viktoria Plzeň, who were beaten by "the best in the world".

Despite receiving the plaudits for a man-of-the-match display in FC Bayern München's 5-0 victory against FC Viktoria Plzeň, Franck Ribéry told UEFA.com he felt "the whole team played well" as the holders made it three wins from as many Group D outings.

The UEFA Best Player in Europe for 2013 returned from an ankle injury to score twice as the Bavarian club recorded their biggest victory in this season's competition against the Czech champions, whose captain Pavel Horváth had nothing but respect for his team's conquerors.

Franck Ribéry, Bayern midfielder
We were superb. I think the whole team played well and so we won 5-0. We kept it up for the whole 90 minutes, which was great. It doesn't matter who you're playing, you always have to remain focused to keep on winning and play as well as we did tonight. When you play with hunger and focus, you'll always score goals. Now we need to keep on going and win our remaining three games. We want to finish in first place; that's very important.

Toni Kroos, Bayern midfielder
The Champions League is always good fun, even when you don't win by such a big margin. We were far superior tonight and to be honest we should have been further ahead by half-time, but we can be satisfied.

We've played with plenty of motivation and now we have nine points on the board after three games in the competition. Our opponents weren't on the same level as us but it's not easy to win 5-0 in the Champions League, so we did well.

Mario Götze is improving with every game. It's important that he stays fit and keeps playing. If he can do that then I'm sure we're going to enjoy plenty of good times to come with him.

Philipp Lahm, Bayern defender
It's always fun when you're winning. We went ahead at the right time and pressed on from there; we made it look pretty easy in the end. We didn't score in the first 20 minutes but we created a lot of very good opportunities and there was plenty to build on from the performance.

Pavel Horváth, Plzeň midfielder
The plan was to play as well as possible and to make it as difficult as possible for Bayern, but they're probably the best team in the world at the moment. 5-0 isn't a great result but we have to accept that we were playing against a world-class team.

Bayern are very strong on the ball. You can see Pep Guardiola's signature on their style. You have to concentrate in defence, but we made the odd mistake and were punished.

To be honest even from the beginning it was our aim to qualify for the Europa League. We knew that powerhouses like Bayern and Manchester City would dominate the group, so we'll be battling with CSKA for third. The games against Bayern are great for the players, though, and for the city as a whole.

Roman Hubnik, Plzeň defender
It was a very difficult game tonight because Bayern are the best team in the world at the moment, so it was tough. We came with the intention of keeping a clean sheet and try to get the ball forward quickly. It was hard, though, because Bayern created a lot of chances.

The Europa League was always our main objective. Bayern and Manchester City will finish first and second but we're hoping our final game at home to CSKA Moskva will be decisive [in the battle for third place].
