Plassnegger heading to Grazer

Austrian international Gernot Plassnegger has signed a three-year deal with Grazer AK.

Difficult season
The 26-year-old winger had a difficult time at FC Hansa Rostock last season and was sent off twice in 12 starts as the team finished ninth. He had been due to stay at the German club until 2006, but his contract was suspended by mutual consent allowing the former SV Austria Salzburg and FK Austria Wien player to return to his native country.

'Right decision'
Plassnegger has been unsettled in Germany where he has been playing since moving to 1.FC Saarbrücken in 2000/01. The former VfL Wolfsburg and SV Waldhof Mannheim player only moved to Hansa last summer but is relishing his return to Austria and the chance to play for last year's double winners. "I'm convinced that I've made the right decision, because the chance to play in the UEFA Champions League is very appealing to me," he said.
