Galatasaray's Hamit undergoes surgery

Galatasaray AŞ midfielder Hamit Altıntop has undergone surgery in Germany in a bid to solve his ongoing spinal disc herniation injury.

The 30-year-old Turkish international has been sidelined since the end of August with the back complaint and consequently has made just two Super League appearances for the Istanbul side this term. Galatasaray have not confirmed when he will return to action. The former FC Schalke 04 and FC Bayern München player had a similar operation in 2011 while at Real Madrid CF.

Roberto Mancini's charges are second in UEFA Champions League Group B and travel to FC København on matchday four.
