FC Barcelona's injury problems mount ahead of their UEFA Champions League Group H visit to AFC Ajax with full-back Daniel Alves the latest player to be sidelined, having suffered a calf injury.

The 30-year-old sustained the muscle tear to his right leg on international duty with Brazil and, having been assessed by club doctors, he has been ruled out for seven to ten days. Already deprived of the injured Lionel Messi (thigh) and Víctor Valdés (calf) for the rest of the year, coach Gerardo Martino is also keeping a close eye on Jordi Alba (thigh), Gerard Piqué (groin) and Xavi Hernández (hamstring) who are all nursing complaints.

Having already qualified for the UEFA Champions League round of 16, the Blaugrana make the trip to Ajax on Tuesday before concluding their Group H schedule at home to Celtic FC on 11 December.
