SSC Napoli will be without captain Marek Hamšík for their decisive UEFA Champions League Group F trip to Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday after the midfielder suffered a foot injury during the 1-0 home defeat by Parma FC.
Hamšík replaced Goran Pandev midway through the second period at the Stadio San Paolo on Saturday but lasted only ten minutes after suffering the knock in a challenge from Parma midfielder Walter Gargano, his sister's husband. "This morning he underwent a scan on his left foot which excluded fractures," read a Napoli statement today. "He will undergo further tests in the coming days but will definitely miss the Champions League game at Dortmund."
The 26-year-old Hamšík has scored six goals in 12 Serie A games this season for Napoli, who can book a place in the UEFA Champions League knockout stage by avoiding defeat in Germany on Tuesday.
