Defender Iván Marcano has joined Olympiacos FC on loan for the second time in his career, on this occasion from FC Rubin Kazan.
The Greek champions will have the option of signing the 26-year-old, who has made 38 Russian Premier-Liga appearances for Rubin since arriving there in summer 2012, on a permanent basis. Former Spanish Under-21 international Marcano started his career with home-town team Real Racing Club before moving to Villarreal CF. Following a temporary switch to Getafe CF, the centre-back cum left-back spent the 2011/12 campaign on loan at Olympiacos and claimed a domestic double before subsequently heading to Russia.
Olympiacos take on Manchester United FC in the UEFA Champions League round of 16, with the first leg in Piraeus on 25 February before the Old Trafford return on 19 March. Rubin face Real Betis Balompié in the UEFA Europa League round of 32.
