UEFA milestones and competition statistics
• The 5-0 matchday five loss to Manchester United FC was Leverkusen's heaviest home defeat in European competition, equalling the biggest home reverse for a German side in the UEFA Champions League. The 4-0 matchday three victory over FC Shakhtar Donetsk was their largest UEFA Champions League win, qualifying excluded.

• Emre Can, booked three times in the group stage, is suspended; Lars Bender is a yellow card away from a ban.

• Leverkusen, who spent part of their month-long winter break in Portugal, were four points behind Bundesliga leaders FC Bayern München going into matchday six. They remain second but are now 16 adrift, and Saturday's 2-1 loss to FC Schalke 04 was their fifth defeat in seven games since the end of the group stage.

• Brandt, a 17-year-old striker, made his debut as a late substitute against Schalke on Saturday. Sidney Sam missed the game against opponents he will join in the summer.

• Guardado made his debut in a 1-0 extra-time loss to second-tier visitors 1. FC Kaiserslautern in the German Cup quarter-finals on 12 February.  

• Roberto Hilbert (knee, out since 13 November) and Sam (thigh, 23 November) returned from injury on 1 February. Stefan Reinartz has missed the last three games with a heel problem while Eren Derdiyok is out with a muscle injury suffered against Kaiserslautern

• Twelve wins in the first 15 top-flight games represented Leverkusen's best start to a Bundesliga season.

• Ryu Seung-woo, 20, joined from Jeju United FC on a 12-month loan in January though he is not in their UEFA Champions League squad. Sam will join Schalke at the end of the season on a deal running until summer 2018.

• Zlatan Ibrahimović scored eight goals in the group stage, equalling a record held by Ruud van Nistelrooy (2004/05), Filippo Inzaghi and Hernán Crespo (both 2002/03), though Cristiano Ronaldo went one better this season.

• Ibrahimović became the tenth player to score four goals in a UEFA Champions League game when Paris won 5-0 at RSC Anderlecht on matchday three – the French club's biggest away triumph in Europe. On matchday five he became the 18th player to feature 100 times in the UEFA Champions League.

• Paris have scored 99 goals in the European Cup.

• The capital side have attempted 4,548 passes in this season's competition and completed 3,843, second only to FC Barcelona on both counts.

• Gregory van der Wiel and Marco Verratti return from suspension.

• Two points clear of second-placed AS Monaco FC in the French top flight before matchday six, Paris have since stretched their lead to five. The sides drew 1-1 on 9 February, with Javier Pastore registering his first Ligue 1 goal since April.

• Ibrahimović has scored 33 goals in his last 27 appearances for club and country.

• Paris are seven matches unbeaten away from home since going down at SL Benfica on matchday six, winning five.

• Paris' French Cup ambitions ended with a 2-1 round of 32 defeat at home to Montpellier Hérault SC on 21 January. They are through to the French League Cup final on 19 April, though, where they meet Olympique Lyonnais.

• Edinson Cavani has been out since sustaining a thigh injury against FC Girondins de Bordeaux on 31 January.

• Paris's 36-game unbeaten run in regulation time, stretching back to 2 March and a 1-0 defeat by Stade de Reims, ended on 4 December when Blanc's charges lost 2-0 at Évian Thonon Gaillard FC.
