FC Bayern München coach Josep Guardiola faces a selection headache on Wednesday after Xherdan Shaqiri was ruled out of the trip to Arsenal FC with a thigh injury.

The Switzerland international scored twice in Saturday's 4-0 victory at home to SC Freiburg but was withdrawn after the hour mark with a thigh knock. The injury means he will remain in Munich for the UEFA Champions League round of 16 first leg alongside Franck Ribéry, the man whose role he occupied against Freiburg. The Frenchman is sidelined with a buttock injury.
