Burdisso bound for Inter

FC Internazionale have signed Argentinian international defender Nicolas Andrés Burdisso.

Boca Juniors stalwart
Born in Altos de Chipiòn, the defender has spent his entire career with Boca Juniors, winning Argentinian Apertura titles in 2000 and 2003, the Libertadores Cup in 2000, 2001 and 2003 as well as the European/South American Cup in 2000 and 2003. The latter victory came at the expense of Inter's city rivals AC Milan last December. He alo played in Boca Juniors' 2004 Copa Libertadores final defeat by CD Once Caldas on penalties last week.

Argentinian colleagues
Burdisso, who has been capped four times by the Argentine national team, is the third Argentinian to join Inter this summer following former Chelsea FC player Juan Sebastián Veron and Real Madrid CF man Esteban Cambiasso. Inter will start the new UEFA Champions League campaign in the third qualifying round after finishing fourth in Serie A last season.

'New challenge'
Burdisso said: "Joining Inter is like restarting my career. Everything I have done until now was necessary just to arrive here but now I have a new challenge in front of me. The other Argentinian players at Inter told me that there are a lot of expectations for next season."

High aims
He added: "We want to win the title. I have always dreamed of playing for Inter because there were good Argentinian players here when I was a kid. The squad is really strong and I am sure we can win trophies."
