Eto'o cautiously optimistic after Chelsea draw

Confident of progressing thanks to an away goal, Chelsea FC forward Samuel Eto'o nonetheless warned that the tie with Galatasaray AŞ is far from over.

With the home leg to come, Samuel Eto'o and Eden Hazard know Chelsea FC are in a good position to progress to the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals after a 1-1 round of 16 draw with Galatasaray AŞ – but are aware that the tie is "not over yet".

Eto'o, a substitute for Blues' scorer Fernando Torres, spoke of a second half in which Galatasaray "took over" following a strong opening by the visitors that yielded a ninth-minute goal. Hazard, meanwhile, appreciates that the onus is now on José Mourinho's side to "finish the job".

Samuel Eto'o, Chelsea forward
It's not a bad result, but it's not over yet. Fortunately we play the return at home. The game had two faces. In the first half we managed to control the midfield, while in the second half Galatasaray took over. Maybe we could have done more to finish the job at the start, but that's how it goes. Don't underestimate the drive they get from their fans.

It's a fair result for both teams, but we will work towards the return leg with a lot of confidence since we scored an away goal. I'm happy for Aurélien [Chedjou, his Cameroon team-mate who scored the equaliser]. He played really well.

Eden Hazard, Chelsea forward
A 1-1 scoreline leaves everything open for the return game. Since we will have home advantage it's up to us to finish the job, but that also brings responsibilities. We have to prepare for that game really well – it will be a tough match against a team that proved they are worthy competitors.

It was nice to play against [Didier] Drogba because not a day passes at Chelsea without his name being mentioned. I feel privileged playing for a team which he made big. It's a pity I arrived a bit too late to play alongside him.
