Gary Cahill said Galatasaray AŞ had no answer at Stamford Bridge to Chelsea FC's diligent pressing game in what Ramires described as an "impeccable" performance.

The Chelsea FC players congratulated themselves on a job well done against Galatasaray AŞ as Samuel Eto'o's early strike paved the way for a 2-0 victory and a place in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals. Gary Cahill, who weighed in with the other goal just before half-time, said the willingness of José Mourinho's team to work hard for each other made it difficult for Didier Drogba to shine against his former employers. It was, mused Ramires, an "impeccable" performance.

Gary Cahill, Chelsea defender
We played well; we made it comfy in the end against a difficult team. We pressed all over the pitch, we kept a high line and there were a lot of positives, we looked really strong. The clean sheet was important because we knew at the start if we had that we'd go through so that was the most important thing. It was an added bonus for me to score: it's been a long time coming [it was his first goal since 1 December].

We kept Didier quiet, which is hard to do. It's always difficult to come back to your old club especially with all that he achieved here, all the emotion that's involved. But credit to our team, we kept pushing and working hard for each other and that's why it was hard for the likes of Didier and [Wesley] Sneijder to hurt us as much as they would have liked.

Ramires, Chelsea midfielder
In the first game, we managed to get a good result away from home. Our performance here was impeccable; we did not give them a chance. Maybe we could have scored more goals, but we were able to keep control and secure a result that takes us through to the next round. It will not be easy in the quarter-finals but we know we have a strong team. We have everything it takes to get to the final, but we must stay focused.

Drogba is a legend here. He was an important player for this club, winning a lot of titles, so his return was important to him and the fans.

Oscar, Chelsea midfielder
We played very well and deserve to be in the next round. Samuel Eto'o thanked me for the pass for his goal. I always look for him in space, and he was able to find the net early on. We're fighting for two titles and have an important game on Saturday [against Arsenal FC]. [José Mourinho] gives everyone confidence so we hope to continue winning.

Eden Hazard, Chelsea midfielder
We thought the game would be difficult but we were solid throughout. It is always difficult to score against us, so when we scored early we were able to see out the match. I don't mind who we get [in the next round]: Paris, Real Madrid …
