Zlatan Ibrahimović has been ruled out of Paris Saint-Germain's quarter-final second leg with Chelsea FC, after the club confirmed the Sweden forward would be sidelined for up to four weeks following an injury picked up against the Blues on Wednesday.
The Paris top scorer was forced off holding his hamstring in the 69th minute of the first leg, which his side went on to win 3-1. Scans on Friday are expected to reveal the full nature of the injury, but the 32-year-old will play no part in the Stamford Bridge return on Tuesday. His availability for a possible UEFA Champions League semi-final is also called into question by the problem.
"He won't be able to play [against Chelsea]," club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi told local radio. "It is not possible. We still await the results of the scans but I think he is out for four weeks at least." That prognosis would rate the striker, with ten goals in this season's competition, doubtful for the last-four ties should Paris make it, with the semi-final first legs taking place on 22 and 23 April and the returns a week later. "He is a player who scores lots of goals and brings a lot to the team. It's a blow for us. We hope we can have him back before the end of the season," added coach Laurent Blanc.
