Trezeguet tied to Turin

Juventus FC's French international striker David Trezeguet has signed a new four-year contract.

Change of mind
Trezeguet, whose previous deal was due to expire at the end of the coming season, was said to be on the verge of leaving Juventus earlier this year but the arrival of new coach Fabio Capello seems to have helped change his mind.

Capello support
"He [Capello] called me to say he was counting on me, which was good enough for me," said the 26-year-old. "A winning coach [Marcello Lippi] left, but another winning coach has come in. I'm extremely happy that we managed to reach an agreement."

Top scorer
Since joining Juventus from AS Monaco FC in 2000/01, Trezeguet has won two league titles and was Serie A top scorer in 2002 with 24 goals. Earlier this week, Juventus also tied goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon to a new contract, while forward Marco Di Vaio was sold to Valencia CF.

Champions League approaches
The Bianconeri will enter the 2004/05 UEFA Champions League in the third qualifying round. The draw for this stage will take place in Nyon, Switzerland on 30 July at 12.00CET.
