Clubs reach Émerson agreement

Juventus FC have agreed terms with AS Roma for the transfer of midfield player Émerson da Rosa.

Juventus FC have agreed terms with AS Roma for the transfer of Brazilian midfield player Émerson da Rosa.

Agreement confirmed
Real Madrid CF had also shown interest in the 28-year-old, who had 12 months to run on his Roma contract, but the player favoured a move to Juventus. A deal has now been secured for Émerson to follow the path trodden by new Juve coach Fabio Capello - who originally took the player to Roma from Bayer 04 Leverkusen in 2000. "We have reached an agreement with Roma," said Juventus general director Luciano Moggi.

Players reunited
Émerson is the second player to be taken from Roma by Capello, following French defender Jonathan Zebina. Juve begin their UEFA Champions League campaign in the third qualifying round, while Roma are assured of a group stage place having beaten the Turin side to second place in Serie A last season.
