The UEFA President, Michel Platini, has accepted Club Atlético de Madrid's request to wear their red-and-white home kit for Saturday's UEFA Champions League final, rather than their yellow away kit.

As the nominal away team for the decider at Estádio do Sport Lisboa e Benfica, Diego Simeone's side would normally have been asked to wear their away colours to avoid a clash with Real Madrid CF's all-white kit, but after a plea from Atlético, the UEFA President agreed that the clubs should wear both wear their home strips for the final – as they do in domestic meetings in Spain.

Atlético will also mark the passing of Luis Aragonés, who died on 1 February this year at the age of 75. The former Spain boss won titles as a player and a coach with Atlético, and each of their players at the final will wear a shirt subtly emblazoned with his name.
