Balmont wins Lyon extension

Olympique Lyonnais have handed their homegrown midfield player Florent Balmont an extended contract.
On the eve of the new Ligue 1 season, French champions Olympique Lyonnais have handed homegrown midfield player Florent Balmont an extended contract.

Impressive performer
The 24-year-old has renewed his original deal, which had another ten months to run, until June 2008. Balmont spent last season on loan at Toulouse FC, but is now back at the Stade Gerland and is expected to push for a first-team place after an impressive pre-season. Lyon start their Ligue 1 campaign tomorrow night at OGC Nice and enter the 2004/05 UEFA Champions League in the group stage.
