Nuri Şahin will miss Borussia Dortmund's opening three UEFA Champions League group stage games and Turkey's first three qualifiers due to knee surgery.
Borussia Dortmund will be without midfielder Nuri Şahin for their first three UEFA Champions League group stage fixtures due to a knee injury.
Şahin underwent surgery on Wednesday to remove inflamed tissue from his left knee and has been ruled out for around two months. He is sure to miss Dortmund's opening Group D games against Arsenal FC, RSC Anderlecht and Galatasaray AŞ. Their return match against Galatasaray comes on 4 November. The 25-year-old started all but one of the Schwarzgelben's ten UEFA Champions League fixtures last term.
Şahin's injury also leaves the playmaker unavailable for Turkey's first three UEFA EURO 2016 qualifiers, against Iceland (9 September), Czech Republic (10 October) and Latvia (13 October) in Group A.
