France midfielder Paul Pogba has signed a new contract tying him to Italian champions Juventus until 2019.

The 21-year-old, who joined Juventus from Manchester United FC in 2012, has scored 13 goals in 69 Serie A appearances for the Bianconeri, winning the Scudetto twice. Already capped 20 times by France, his previous deal was due to expire in 2016.

"It would be great for everyone here at Juventus and great for him too," captain Gianluigi Buffon said last night ahead of the imminent announcement. "Pogba could become an icon for a glorious club. Juve would make a huge statement with his contract extension."

After losing 1-0 at Olympiacos FC on Wednesday, Juventus lie third in UEFA Champions League Group A with three points from as many games.
